About Ancient Railan
The language of the ancient Railan people, possibly the most influential civilization in the history of Siilun. They were in power around 4,000 NWJ. They were the first ones to invent true writing, which they used to keep records as they crafted a massive trade empire that reached all the islands of the Raimak, the Northeastern coast, the cèAli, and even the Great Islands; some of their outposts are still standing. When their empire crumbled, their language also fell; it has no modern descendants. It is believed that the final speakers died around 1,000 NWJ. Their writing system, however, remained, and many of their documents survive. Through careful study, much of their language has been pieced together.
It should be noted that Ancient Railan and Modern Railan are not genetically connected; the Railan Empire's capital was on the island of Raila, where modern Railan is spoken. Modern Railan, however, is a Gobi-Raimak language. Many of the modern Railan people have begun to push to try and revive Ancient Railan, and about 200-300 people on Railan have learned it to some degree of fluency.
