[edit] [top]An lirvik latino

Using an extended version of the latin alphabet is the most common way of writing. There are some digraphs that are used to represent single phonemes

Here is a table of all the letters and digraphs used, and the sounds they represent:

Aa /a/ sz /s/
Åå /ɒ/,[ɑ] /ʃ/
Bb /b/ /ʁ/
Cc /ts/ ou /u:/
Ċċ /tʃ/ ai /ɛ:/
Dd /d/ ei /ɪ/
Đđ /ð/ /χ/
Ee /e/,[ə] nj /ɲ/
Ëë /ɛ/ gj /ɟ/
Gg /g/ kj /c/
Ġġ /dʒ/ lj /ʎ/
Hh /h/
Ħħ /x/
Ii /i/
Jj /j/
Kk /k/
Ll /l/
Mm /m/
Nn /n/
Ŋŋ /ŋ/
Oo /ɔ/
Pp /p/
Qq /q/
Rr /r/
Ss /s/
Tt /t/
Ŧŧ /θ/
Uu /ʊ/
Ůů /u/, [u̯]*
Vv /v/, [f]*

[edit] [top]lirv'ik waz'ů - Lirvik azů - Kajanese script

The kajanese script is a featural alphabet/impure abjad, it’s used mostly for more formal writing.

Consonants
It has five main glyphs, each one represents one-two manners of articulation:

mgsċj
[m][g],[k][s],[z][tʃ],[dʒ][j]
NasalsPlosivesFricativesAffricatesApproximants and trills

These can then be combined with the secondary set of glyphs, which don't have seperate sounds assigned to them but rather only represent different places of articulation.

ÀÁÂÃÄ
LabialAlveolar/DentalPost-alveolar/PalatalVelar, (Uvular)Uvular/Glottal

Here are all the possible combinations, and their sound values:

m /m/g /g/,/k/s /s/,/z/ċ /tʃ/,/dʒ/j /j/, (ʎ)
À -b /b/,/p/v /v/,[f]--
Á n /n/ d /d/,/t/-c /ts/,/dz/l /l/, (r)
 ň /ɲ/ ģ /ɟ/,/c/ż /ʃ/,/ʒ/--
à ŋ /ŋ/ -ħ/x/,/ʁ/--
Ä -q /q/,/χ/ (h /h/--

The ", or kůdak'lir 1 - Kůdaklir 1, is a glyph used to change a sound of a grapheme into an irregular sound. For example:

  • j [j] -> ľ [ʎ]
  • d [d],[t] -> đ [ð],[θ]
  • l [l] -> r [r]

Vowels
The kajanese script marks it's vowels by placing diacritic marks on the consonant preceeding them.
These are the vowel diacritics used:

◌a◌å◌e◌ë◌i◌y◌o◌u◌ů
/a//ɒ//e//ɛ//i//ɨ//ɔ//ʊ//u/

Examples:
  • Më (I) -
  • Mův (cat) - mův'
  • Nipem (to recieve) - nipem

As one can see on the word "nipem", the vowel diacritics always appear on the last glyph that modifies the consonant before the vowel.

One a vowel does not follow a consonant this glyph is used to put the vowel diacritic on: w

Voicing?
Many of the consonant graphemes represent a pair of one voiced and one voiceless consonant. g for example, which represents /k/ and /g/. To know if a consonant is voiced or not, one has to pay attention to the vowel coming after the consonant. If the consonant is followed by a low vowel; /a/, /ɛ/, /ɔ/ or /ɒ/, the consonant will be voiced, and if it's followed by a high vowel; /e/, /i/, /ɨ/, /ʊ/ or /u/, it will be voiceless.

Examples:
  • ga - [ga]
  • ku - [kʊ]

When for example a high vowel follows a voiced consonant though, one must show in the writing that the consonant shouldn't be effected by the vowel. One can do this by adding the ◌', or Kůdaklir 2, after the consonant glyphs.

Examples:
  • ga [ga] -> k'a [ka]
  • ku [kʊ] -> g'u [gʊ]

Random examples

  • lajmp'aj - Lajmpaj (Limepaj = me)
  • k'ac'åg - Kacåg/Kacååg (Kajanese)
  • c'ërkym - Cërkym (Dogs)
  • wešk'atizaģ - Esżkatizagj (Cookie cutter)
