About Haspuri
Contains extensive nominal classifiers which will evolve into noun class in the Suvo-Poshumic branch. Due to the split in their distribution amongst the daughter languages, it is ambiguous whether or not most adjectival terms behaved as adjectives or stative verbs at this point in the language; the situation was likely akin to modern Chauku, with one class of "true adjectives" & one class of stative verbs.
Daughter languages may use affixes to derive words or they may zero-derive, even across grammatical categories. Haspuri is also fond of compound words. A few affixes are used to derive words within Haspuri, but many of them are only somewhat productive by the time it breaks up.
Derivative morphology:
noun > AUGAugmentative
a bigger, greater, stronger etc. version -ar
noun > DIMDiminutive
a smaller, lesser, weaker etc. version -ū' or -kyāq
noun > stative or adjectival VBZVerbaliser
converts N, ADJ etc into verb xyū- (evolved into Chauko-Kwangatic past tense)
any > FREQFrequentative (aspect)
repeated or customary action (VBZVerbaliser
converts N, ADJ etc into verb) full REDUPReduplication
full or partial reduplication of a word, stem, root, or morpheme
All long vowels in these affixes become short if the root contains a long vowel.
Climate note: Haspuri's daughter languages are spoken in a wide variety of climates. Haspuri was probably spoken in a coastal temperate or near-tropical environment with flora & fauna distribution similar to comparable regions of Eastern Asia.
The proto-language attests terms for boiling, broth, sugar, grinding, roasting, axes, swords, and bows, but no words for baking, flour, ovens, armor, etc.
