About Laiky
Laiky is one of the major languages of the Eastern Maritime cultures, particularly the Greater Laikyan Islands. Laiky and Tiian are considered sort of sister languages which collective control nearly all of the islands of the Raimak. Despite this, not only are they unrelated, but they are extraordinarily different in nearly every aspect, right up to the number of consonant phonemes- Tiian has 12 consonants, and Laiky has 34. Laiky is related to the extinct Zeikisa and (very distantly) to Kjonoh. It is fairly unique among the languages of Siilun, as it has trilateral roots (similar to those of Earth's Semitic languages). Its phonology is also fairly notable, as it lacks /p/ and includes pharyngeal and emphatic series. It is written in an abugida with an inherent vowel of /i/, although modern /i/ was historically */a/. Laiky's history can be traced back much farther than that of most other languages, as there are Ancient Railan descriptions of Laiky as it was spoken at that time, allowing for a fairly complete record of the language going back thousands of years.
