1. Calidor ? ?
Old Cali'din was spoken by the ancient Calid'e peoples around 2000-1500 years ago. These people had settled in the region after the Kingdom of Velei had fallen 1000 years earlier. The Calid'e people formed many duchies and baronies, with a weak but noticable sense of unity. These states had existed since 1500 YBP, before that there were scattered villages and city-states. As the Calid'e people developed better technology, they began trade with the newly rising Ervenian Empire, which drastically increased their level of society, giving them superior technology to the other tribes.

Evolution of Politics
Again, the only real states in early Calidor were small baronies, duchies, and city-states. Almost all were absolute monarchies, except for some senatorial city-states. Feudalism was the main social and economic system as well, however knights acted more as a reward to lower nobles whom served their purpose. Dukes would grant counts and barons with knights, for example. This meant it was the highest noble's responsibility to raise the army, which produced a much more organized and thus effective military. States often went to war as much as they made alliances.

When unification became a common idea and eventually a will, nobles generated more wealth and soldiers to try to be the one to unify it. This lead to monarchs needing to lead their military while others governed the place, creating senates and parliaments. Feudalism also became less intense when benefiting the people actually could benefit the nation. Giving rights to subjects, however, was not done from an omnibenevolent realization of the quite unfair system, but as a tool to gain supporters. A command economy thus turned into a mixed economy. The smallest of baronies would be self-governing within the entire state, nobles would have more autonomy (ironically), and the economy would become less centralized. Now, to various people, unification seemed less as a proto-nation-state, but as a reform. This, therefore, caused diplomacy to be more common as reform was something everyone could deal with. Archduchies which now existed discussed which land they could buy and sell, and unification seemed rather peaceful.

It's easy to see how politics began as time went on. Self-governance, free markets, and diplomacy arose faster and faster, causing a quick evolution in politics.
Unification
Ancient Calidor was seen as a region for half a millennium, but it was similar to how we view the continent of Asia here on Earth - obviously one thing, but it would be strange to have it be one nation. For this region, unification never arose as an idea until much later. 1200 YBP was when people really started taking it seriously, with evolving politics and technology. There were 8 main archduchies in which claimed to be unifiers, but they fell to the peace of diplomacy, relying on selling and buying land (which meant transferring lesser nobles from kingdom to kingdom). Barons were the most effected, and most of them started revolting. The 1421 Revolution would finally disrupt the peace in the land. In over 30 areas, barons got together, overthrowing their overlords.

One duchy was overthrown that year called Kvene, and a coup was lead. Baron Eredos Caleyor, having taken down the duke, declared himself King of Caleyor, renaming the country after himself. Eredos then conquered other states that were in chaos from the Revolution, and a unified Kingdom was finally made. Revolts obviously sparked for the next few years, but they were put down.
